This project is developing a degree-level apprenticeship that combines an electrician’s apprenticeship that provides eligibility to a full electrical licence with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) degree. This will address a gap in the skills market identified by industry. Modern control systems in sophisticated industry applications have outpaced the current trade knowledge but the engineering staff who understand the systems are unable to physically work on them. The outcome will be a licenced electrician with advanced STEM knowledge who is able to design, install, commission and maintain these advanced systems. Federation University is managing the training program, with the first intake expected early in 2024. Contact ross.kelly@aigroup.com.au.
Similar to the Victorian project, this will develop dual qualification apprenticeship combining an electrician’s apprenticeship that provides eligibility to a full electrical licence with a Bachelor of Science (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) degree. The outcome

The training program is being managed by the University of Southern Queensland in partnership with TAFE Queensland. The first intake is expected mid-2024. Contact mel.ireland@aigroup.com.au
This new program will enable a person to complete an accredited Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) while employed as an apprentice with participating companies. The apprenticeship is expected to take 5 years to complete. During that time the apprentice will be employed on a full-time basis to attend university and work on related tasks. Some of the formal study will also be undertaken in the workplace. Apprentices will be paid while undertaking the program and the cost of attending university will be supported by their employer. The program will be delivered by the University of South Australia and will be ready for the commencement of the 2024 academic year. Participating companies will be recruiting new apprentices after 2023 SACE exams have completed. Contact peter.canavan@aigroup.com.au.
